Welcome to our Substack! If you aren’t familiar, One Strange Thing is a podcast founded in September of 2020 by Laurah Norton and Maura Currie. It’s our bizarre pandemic baby, and we are very proud of it. You can find it on Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

We’ve put out nearly 100 main-feed episodes and 65 premium episodes (you can find those on Patreon and Apple Premium) that you can enjoy.

Now, we want a place to publish some stories that aren’t quite long enough for a full episode—but we think our audiences will enjoy. If you subscribe, you’ll get at least two fascinating subscriber stories twice a month, plus some fun free content to enjoy.

So. . . what do we cover? Well: we love paranormal and true-weird mysteries that have been buried deep in our nation’s news archives (though we do stray outside those borders). We uncover stories that can’t quite be explained, and always have a twist. Our favorite stories are regional tales of cryptids, ghost encounters, unexplained events, alien encounters, curses, and creatures. . . but not the ones that have become the most famous in our culture. We’re interested in real people who believe that they experienced something fantastic, and weaving a story about what they saw.

The prose is tight, the tone is light, and we’re neither believers or disbelievers. We’re here for the plot, and we hope you are, too.

We’ve covered everything from a mysterious soda machine, a ring that disappeared on one continent and reappeared on another, and the Flatwoods Monster to a cursed symphony, a haunted bunkbed, and the Michigan Dogman.
